Summary: A classification of gait types following a stroke can optimise an orthotic treatment. By means of the knee and leg position in mid stance, the pathological gait can be assessed easily. A classification of apoplexy patients was developed based on the biomechanical characteristics determined in a gait analysis of five apoplexy patients. This classification has the potential to improve the cooperation within the interdisciplinary team and to standardise orthotic treatment.
