System Knee Joints for Orthoses

When choosing a system knee joint, there are three different functions to choose from: free moving, automatic or locked. Within these functions, each system joint offers different features, alternative functions and adjustment options.

To ensure the ideal selection of system components based on the patient data, we recommend using the Orthosis Configurator.

Locked System Knee Joints

plug + go Modularity due to Exchangeable Functional Units

The functional elements are integrated into the cover plates of the system joints. The functional elements by FIOR & GENTZ include, for example, precompressed spring units in various spring forces as well as system components for adjusting the ideal orthosis’ alignment. The orthosis’ alignment, the range of motion and the orthosis' rigidity can be adjusted independently as required for all important orthosis functions, such as dorsiflexion stop and plantar flexion stop.

In combination with the functional elements, the cover plates constitute the functional units of the system joints. The system knee joints NEURO VARIO 2 and NEURO VARIO-SWING by FIOR & GENTZ can be converted from one to another. System ankle joints with plug + go modularity (identified by the plug + go logo) are especially easy to convert, as they have identical joint’s upper parts, joint’s lower parts and assembly/lamination dummies. All functional differences are integrated in the functional unit. A joint-specific functional unit therefore is all that is needed for the conversion. Thus, by using system joints with plug + go modularity, the orthosis can be adjusted flexibly to the course of therapy and expensive new productions can be avoided.
